flashlog.txt for trace();
May 3rd, 2008
In this post I talked about how I see trace comments in my console (on Mac OS X) and a few people were interested in how I set that up. Here is some info to help you out.
Random Coolness
May 1st, 2008
I use the Flash Debug Player and have set it up to output all traces out to the console on the mac to help with all my debugging. This is great to see traces outside of the Flash IDE without the need of any extra software or custom built solution. I tend to leave it open a lot and when I visit other Flash sites I wind up seeing any traces that had not been removed. Well this morning while I was just surfing the web I went back to my console and saw this:

Where are you?

Since taking my job with Heavy.com things have been crazy. I am working on organizing some really sick code to share from my new job. I have basically set up a fresh AS 3 Shared library from scratch and cleaned up a lot of my good old stand by utilities as well as some new JavaScript APIs and image manipulation tools.

In the mean time, check out the new home page of heavy.com. The dev team at heavy is really good and its nice to be around sick programers who know their stuff. They did an amazing job of updating the site and pushing out a stable release. Since I started my job at the end of their development cycle I was only able to work on the home page video player. Right now I am porting over all the old AS 2 code to AS 3 so I have my work cut out for me.

Last night I was trying to figure out the logic for a Section Managing class I am creating for a new site. The class is really simple but there were some steps and testing I needed wrap my head around so I fired up an old friend of mine omnigraffle and started mapping out how I wanted things to work.

AS 2.0 MCVC Template
December 25th, 2007
For the past year I have been building most of my AS 2.0 applications on top of a standard class template system I developed called MCVC. I thought it would be nice to share it with everyone now that I have moved over to AS 3.0. To my surprise there are still a great deal of developers using AS 2 so I hope this is helpful. I do have to warn you that this is a small complex system of 4 class templates to help you rapidly build applications off of. In order to leverage its speed and functionality you have to follow the system exactly. This is not for everyone
