Worth Checking Out

I am a big fan of Google Code. One of the coolest features that I completely overlooked was the way you can star projects you like. Once you star them they will appear in a drop down under the My projects tab. Probably not the most intuitive place to keep them but this menu holds a list of all of your projects as well as the ones you have stared. I have been doing a lot of checking out projects from SVN and creating new workspaces in Flex Builder lately so I have been using this menu a lot. I figured I would share some of the really great projects I use:

  • as3corelib – ActionScript 3.0 library for several basic utilities.
  • as3dmod – cross-engine modifier library for Flash 3d
  • as3isolib – ActionScript 3 Isometric Library
  • away3d – Realtime 3D engine for Flash
  • benstucki – My Ben Stucki’s personal Code
  • dita – Air App to generate asdoc
  • gmaps-utility-library-flash – Google Maps API for Flash Utility Library
  • gskinner – A collection of public AS3 classes released under MIT Licensing by gskinner.com
  • flash-camouflage – Flash Camouflage is a skinning framework for AS 3 Applications
  • jiglibflash – Flash 3D physics engine
  • monsterdebugger – Debugger for Flash / Flex / AIR developed by design studio De Monster
  • papervision3d – Open Source realtime 3D engine for Flash
  • swfupload – JavaScript & Flash Upload Library
  • tweener A class for creating tweens in actionscript 2 and 3
  • samBrown
    great stuff, very useful;
btw - enjoyed your article on Flashtuts, comprehensive and very helpful
  • Thanks for the tip, Google Code is really a great asset to anyone interested in working with or creating Open Source projects.
  • Nathan Ingersoll
FYI, you can also star other developers and have a personal activity feed. If you click on the Profile next to the drop-down menu, that page lists all of your starred projects and developers, along with other useful account info. Clicking the Updates tab from that page gives you aggregated information about those starred projects and developers.
